  1. Portland's capacity in 2011 was 18,627 not 18,827.

  2. That is not Portland's capacity in 2011, it is their average attendance. Portland had 15 sell outs of 18,627. They also had two sell outs when they increased capacity to 20,323. Averaged out it comes to 18,827, Funny thing numbers. Their capacity was indeed 18,627 normally last year so they had a 101.07% full last season.

    Thanks for the question!

    1. Oops, you're right, I forgot about those two games, sorry. Thanks for your effort to maintain this data. The numbers do get confusing. Our own Oregonian newspaper has an article this morning saying the Timber's are selling out at 20,837 which is wrong since they've never had more than 20,438.

  3. The Whitecaps had one home game at the exact same time, as a Canucks playoff home game. That clearly hurt their attendance that game, they drew only 15k.

    1. Thanks, that would make a difference. Well, they were back to normal yesterday and the Whitecaps were able to pull off a great win!

  4. Although it's only week 8, more then half the league has negative attendance growth from last season. If something doesn't change very soon for some of these franchises, the League is going to have to start shuttering them.

    1. everyone has ups and downs. Anyways, most still have above average attendance. The only ones I am worried about are NE, DC, and Chivas. Chivas needs to rebrand/move to San Diego, while DC and NE just need soccer specific stadiums.
